  ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Diana Carr, 56, of Alexandria, Va., pleaded guilty today embezzling from the American Conservative Union (ACU). 

Crime Solvers Tip Aids in Capture of East Coast Rapist

From Fairfax County:

  Crime Solvers programs around the region are applauding their role in a recent capture. An anonymous tip through Crime Solvers assisted police in the arrest of the highly sought-after “East Coast Rapist.” Detectives around the region and as far reaching as Rhode Island and Connecticut worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to create a website and billboard signs that ran up and down the east coast with pertinent information in a series of sexual assaults.

            More than 12 women and children were reportedly sexually assaulted by the same man. Those attacks began in Prince Georges County, MD in February, 1997. The suspect then attacked women in Fairfax County, VA, Leesburg, VA, Cranston, RI, New Haven, CT and Prince William County, VA. DNA in those cases all returned to the same suspect.

Serial Rapist Expands to Include Billboards and Website

Today, the FBI, with Fairfax County, Prince William County, Prince George’s County, Leesburg, New Haven, and Cranston Police Departments launched a digital billboard campaign to assist in a serial rape investigation involving 12 sexual assaults or attempted sexual assaults between 1997 and 2009 by the same offender.  Each of these assaults is linked by DNA.

From Manassas City Police Department:

On Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. officers responded to the 9000 block of Coriander Circle for the report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the area occupied two times. Officers located the vehicle, identified both subjects and recovered a bag of marijuana and a glass smoking device.

Aaron Bauknight, 30, of the 9000 block of Coriander Circle, Manassas and Jacob Lavely, 24, of the 13500 block of Frost Drive, Nokesville, VA. were charged with Possession of Marijuana. Both subjects were released on a summons with a court date of 1-25-11.

Residents Reminded to Lock Up Doors and Windows

Loudoun County, VA: In light of a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries in neighboring Fairfax and Prince William County, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit and Criminal Investigations Division are reminding residents to lock their doors and windows; this includes garage doors. 

In Fairfax County serial burglaries have been reported throughout the Sully, Fair Oaks, Reston, Mason and McLean police districts. Similar incidents (burglaries, attempted burglaries & larcenies from vehicles) were reported in the Haymarket area in Prince William County.
