Photo Gallery | NEW PHOTOS: Morbidly Obese Rescue Dog On Weight Loss Journey
Here's an UPDATE ON Fluffy Pork Chop, the rescue dog at Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue in Newington, Va. who has been trying to lose weight. Fluffy is down to 31.7 pounds and is plugging away to reach his goal weight of 22 pounds(he weighed 42 pounds and was considered morbidly obese when he arrived at the SPCA.
Take a look at photos above of Fluffy on his weight loss journey.
OBG’s best guess for Fluffy is that he is a 6-8 year old Cocker Corgi mix. Fluffy and five of his housemates were turned over to the SPCA when their owner was evicted a few months back. Upon arrival at OBG, Fluffy weighed 42 pounds and was considered morbidly obese, needing to lose almost half of his body weight.
“(Fluffy’s) health situation is extremely dire because of his excess weight. He has high blood pressure, a sore tooth, and two cherry eyes which will need to be surgically repaired,” OBG’s site explains.
According to Linda Pfluger, an OBG volunteer, the “turn of events probably saved Fluffy’s life”. Now, Fluffy is on a weight loss kick and OBG has even started a blog specifically dedicated to his transformation, giving people the chance to track his efforts. Fluffy’s blog posts his weekly weigh-ins, photos from his weight loss journey, information about canine obesity, and even some videos of him working out.
So here’s the good news: Fluffy has already lost 8 pounds, almost halfway to his 20-pound loss goal. Take a look the slideshow above, courtesy of Fluffy’s blog, to see photos of him in previous weeks, and check back to follow his progress.
