Custom paper-goods boutique, Fifteen/Eleven, specializes in custom design services for weddings and special occasions, but now has opened its doors to retail and local businesses.
Owner, Suaan Song, started letterpress work years ago for her own wedding invitations and then for friends. She took a class locally, and realized she could make a business out of it. Now, Song does all of her own letterpress work in studio, and at home with the help of three antique, cast-iron machines. She features “products and local designers that represent good design, distinct style and her love of fine paper,” said Song.
The shop, which is located at 1511 King Street in Old Town, Alexandria is only 400 square feet, but adorable and packed with a beautiful array of custom stationary, office products, greeting cards, wrapping essentials, and small gifts for all ages.
“My driving motivation to open this store was to introduce products from around the world that I love and that you rarely see in this area. We cater to someone who appreciates letterpress and fine paper products, and who is willing to pay $4-$6 for a custom greeting card,” explained Song.
Fifteen/Eleven organizes and hosts letterpress and calligraphy workshops, for local residents to meet and learn the art and craftsmanship of the printing method in a creative setting.
Song is coming up with a full line of products for The National Stationary Show, which takes place in New York in May where 800 companies showcase their new designs.
The boutique and Song's printing skils have been featured in countless magazines including Southern Living, Martha Stewart Weddings, and Bride & Groom. If you are looking for a one-of-a kind greeting card, a fun and fashionable memo pad to use at work, or a cool, reusable grocery bag, Fifteen/Eleven is the shop for you.
