Washington D.C.’s Largest and Oldest Greek Festival
Celebrates 51st Anniversary in Sept.

 The Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church festival celebrates their 51st annual festival, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 16, 17 and 18, 2011, from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday (rain or shine). The largest and oldest DC Greek Festival is located at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at the corner of 16th and Upshur streets in Washington, D.C. Admission is FREE.

City Square Café of Old Town Manassas, Va. is featuring Taste of Spain, a four-course wine dinner, on Thurs., Sept. 22 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Traditional Spanish dishes will be paired with select wines from independent Spanish vineyards. Free Meals for Teachers and Education Professionals at Cafe Rio

Cafe Rio Mexican Grill has officially reached the east coast and with the two new openings in Manassas, VA and Olney, MD comes increased community involvement. During the week of August 29th-September 4th, Cafe Rio Mexican Grill is focusing on the teachers and education professionals of surrounding communities by giving them an “apple” if you will. Any local educator that presents their official ID at either of the new restaurants will receive a free meal! In addition, a donation jar will be next to each cash register, allowing customers to donate to their local school districts.

“Teachers are the unsung heroes of our local communities,” states Bob Baker, President and CFO of Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. “Giving them a free meal is the least we can do for their continued day-to-day effort.”

When Café Rio Restaurant opened its first location in Prince William County on July 13, it was done with great fanfare. Dozens of business and community members came to enjoy fresh Mexican cuisine on the house including Hal Parrish, the mayor of the City of Manassas, members of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, several Board members of the SPARK Education Foundation, and more.

As the newest business partner, Café Rio has already shown a great commitment to the School Division. During the grand opening, they presented SPARK with a check for $2,500 to support Prince William County Public School (PWCS) initiatives. In addition, Café Rio will be starting a “Student of the Week” program with local schools. SPARK worked closely with Brenda Ricks, director of communications (national) for Café Rio during the formation of this partnership.

Cafe Rio Mexican Grill opened its second east coast location on Wednesday, July 13th in Manassas, VA, kicking off a week of customer appreciation events and offers for the local community. While the big ribbon cutting ceremony was Wednesday there are still more events you can take advantage of. Here are the dates and offerings:
