Report Says D.C. Is 5th Least Stressed 'State' In Country | People
D.C. is an incredibly busy city, a city that houses some of the most powerful, most intense jobs in the world.
And yet, one report is saying that District residents are some of the "least stressed" in the nation.
According the report released yesterday by Gallup, D.C. is the fifth "least stressed" state in the country, trailing only Hawaii, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
"These state-level data are based on daily surveys conducted from January through December 2010 and encompass more than 350,000 interviews," Elizabeth Mendes of Gallup wrote in the report. "Americans' average stress level was 39.4% last year, similar to 2009 (39.9%) and 2008 (38.8%)."
D.C.'s average stress level came in at 36.7%, while the number one least stressed state, Hawaii, had an average stress level of 30.2%. Utah was the report's "most stressed state" with an average stress level of 45.1%.
Maryland and Virginia were classified as "midrange states" by the report, and had average stress levels of 39.3% and 39.7% respectively.
