Gavin Ohler, 10, of Arlington, Va. was awarded third place in LearningRx’s annual Presidents Day contest, by reciting the U.S. Presidents in order while playing Hannon on the piano. The U.S. President recitation is a memory-enhancement exercise that helps LearningRx students increase their short-term and long-term memory. For more information, go to www.learningrx.com.

The contest is designed to encourage kids across the country to create videos that demonstrate the memory and focus skills they improved with LearningRx brain training.

SCAM ALERT: Prince William County Grand Jury Scam

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WUSA 9) -- The Prince William County Police Department is warning residents about a grand jury phone scam.

According to police, residents have been reporting that they are being targeted by phone calls related to grand jury scam, where a caller represents himself as a deputy with Prince William County. Police say the caller tells the resident that they failed to appear for grand jury and there is a warrant for their arrest and accompanying fines of $5,500. The caller goes on to say that the police are one the way to arrest the resident.

In at least one call, police say the caller instructed the resident to respond to the District Attorney's Office giving the address of the courthouse in Manassas.

Students interested in attending the Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Alexandria and Lorton, Va. can audition on Sun., Mar. 1 at MSA Lorton Campus at 9601 Ox Road. Auditions are required as part of the 2015-2016 academy registration. The MSA Academy audition is for performing arts students from 6th grade to 12th grade. The audition process will give prospective students an opportunity to demonstrate his or her skills in dance, music and theater for the chairs of the respective arts departments.  Applicants must attend a live audition if they live within three geographical states of MSA.  Prospective students living beyond the three-state radius may submit a DVD audition. 

Police: Man withheld information after girlfriend stabbed him

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police say a man who was stabbed by his girlfriend has also been charged following an investigation into the incident.

According to police officials, Richard Gregg Davis of Woodbridge was stabbed on Dec. 27. At the time, Davis claimed that a man he did not know stabbed him and tried to rob him while walking on Harborview Court, say police. Their investigation revealed some inconsistencies in the initial report which were later determined to be false, according to police.

Police say they later found out that Davis' girlfriend, Cynthia Nelson, had stabbed him after an altercation at a home on Harborview Court. The two had an argument before the stabbing, according to police.

Nelson has been charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond.

Fake cop pulls over real cop

DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) -- A police impersonator tried to pull over an off-duty officer early Thursday morning, police said.

An off-duty police officer says he was driving on Benita Fitzgerald Drive in Dumfries when a man driving a Crown Victoria started to follow him. The officer says the driver turned on a spotlight that was attached to his car. Thinking it was a police officer, the off-duty officer pulled over, according to police.

The driver of the Crown Victoria pulled alongside the off-duty officer and tried to make contact, police said.

When the off-duty officer said he was a police officer, the other driver immediately sped away. The off-duty officer followed the car, and then the driver and passenger fled on foot.

Police have identified the man as Shawn Michael Robinson, 27, of Alexandria. He turned himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
