9 townhouses damaged in northern Virginia fire

BRISTOW, Va. (AP) - Authorities in Prince William County say nine townhouses were damaged in a fire that left four of the units uninhabitable.

The county's fire-and-rescue department says it took 50 firefighters to extinguish the blaze early Sunday morning in the 9200 block of Dawkins Crest Circle. The fire was called in at 3:15 a.m.

No injuries were reported but the Red Cross is assisting seven adults displaced by the fire.

BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA 9) -- Two Metrobus passengers are claiming injuries after the bus was involved in an accident on the Beltway Friday afternoon.

Authorities say that the Metrobus was involved in an accident with a passenger vehicle near the Old Georgetown Road exit on I-495.

Authorities report that two of the passengers in the involved vehicle are also claiming injuries.

Police: Man attacked coworker with pipe

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police have arrested a Falls Church man who they say attacked a co-worker with a pipe at work.

Toan Kim Tran, 55, has been charged with malicious wounding after hitting a 53-year-old Woodbridge man in the arm with a pipe, according to police.

On July 10, police responded to Accurate Printing located at 2380 Research Ct. in Woodbridge to investigate an assault.

The victim told police that he was involved in a verbal altercation with a co-worker. After the two separated, police say Tran ran at his co-worker with a large pipe and swung the pipe several times, hitting the victim in the arm.

Minor injuries were reported.

Police: Suspect hit woman in face, killed her dog

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) --Prince William County police have arrested a man who they say assaulted two women with a BB gun and killed a dog.

Police say 31-year-old David Joseph Ault of Woodbridge hit a 24-year-old female acquaintance in the face during a verbal altercation on July 9. The woman left the apartment, located in the 14100 block of Cuddy Lp in Woodbridge, and returned on July 13 with two friends.

When the woman returned, police say Ault pulled out a BB gun and began assaulting her. He then began assaulting one of her friends, a 23-year-old woman. Police say the third woman then pepper sprayed Ault to stop the assault.

The three woman ran to a neighbors and called police. The victims suffered minor injuries.

PD: Checker Cab comes to Northern Va.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Prince William County Police Department said Friday that only licensed taxicab companies are able to pick up clients in the County of Prince William and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. As of July 11 2014, authorities said, Northern Va. Checker Cab are the only two companies with a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity that will be working in Prince William County.

Authorities said, the Northern Virginia Checker Cab company has acquired the Manassas Cab Company and will be changing the color of their cabs between the beginning of July and October 7, 2014.

Customers may be picked up in either the new or old color scheme during that time period.

Man robs woman of cell phone

WOODBRIDGE Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police have arrested a man who they say robbed a woman in the Potomac Mills Mall parking lot.

Jeremiah Albert Johnson, 22, has been charged with robbery for the incident.

On July 10, a 28-year-old Alexandria woman reported to police that she was confronted by a man in the mall and followed to the parking lot, according to police.

When the woman reached for her phone to call police, police say Johnson forcibly grabbed the phone from her hands and then fled.

Officers located Johnson and the victim's cell phone was recovered. He is being held without bond, according to police.
