Police: Va. man sexually assaulted 12-year-old since 2012

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Virginia man sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl multiple times since 2012, Prince William County police said.

Santos Joel Iraheta Zometa, 45, of Woodbridge, has been charged with three counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of peeping.

Officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge on Saturday, Sept 27 to investigate the sexual assault.

"The investigation revealed that the victim, a 12 year old girl, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, on more than one occasion since 2012," according to police.

Iraheta Zometa was arrested and is being held without bond.

Trial set for school owner, teacher accused of biting toddler

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A teacher accused of biting a 13-month-old boy and the school owner accused of failing to report it will appear in court again in December, according to Prince William County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court officials.

Goddard School teacher Theresa Brown and owner Nadia Choudry were arraigned on Thursday. Both women were arrested on Sept. 19, according to police. Brown was charged with assault & battery and Choudry was charged with failure to report child abuse or neglect.

They will appear in Prince William County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Dec. 19.

Prince William County police say that on Sept. 16, detectives responded to the the Goddard School located at 5490 Staples Mill Plaza to investigate an assault involving an employee and child that happened on Sept. 11.

Student caught carrying pellet gun near Va. school

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Woodbridge high schooler was caught with a pellet gun near Lake Ridge Middle School on Monday, Prince William County police said.

At 2:41 in the afternoon, police responded to Lake Ridge Middle School located at 12350 Mohican Rd in Woodbridge to the report of someone with a gun near the school.

The person, a student atWoodbridge Senior High School, had walked out of a nearby wooded area during a fire drill carrying the pellet gun, police said.

School staff had already detained the student before police arrived.

"No injuries were reported and the pellet gun was never pointed towards the school, students or staff," police said.

Va. youth pastor accused of sexting girl

HAYMARKET, Va. (WUSA9) -- A youth pastor at a Virginia church sent sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl, Prince William County police said.

On August 20, a youth pastor at Park Valley Church located at 4500 Waverly Farm Drive used cell phone app KIK to send sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl, police said.

The pastor has been identified as Vincent Gunnar Bowes, 22, of North Carolina.

No physical contact was made between the two, according to police. When church staff found out about what happened, they told police.

Bowes is charged with attempted indecent liberties with a minor and use of a communication device to facilitate certain offenses involving a minor.



City of Manassas residents can now use a more convenient way of receiving and paying their utility bill online. They have the option to pay by electronic check for free or pay a nominal fee to use their credit card. As of Sept. 1, the City of Manassas had more than 800 customers that have paid bills online, and almost 500 are using e-billing, enabling electronic notifications of due dates. DNA links suspect to Va. attempted abduction

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man has been arrested for an attempted abduction that happened in March after DNA evidence linked him to the crime scene, Prince William County police said.

Victor Alberto Serrano, 33, is accused of strangling a 34-year-old woman and trying to force her into the back seat of a car, according to police.

It happened on the night of March 20 at a parking lot in the area of Potomac Mills Circle and Nazarene Way in Woodbridge.

The victim told police that she was about to get in her car after work when an unknown man asked her for directions, police said.
