Police: Driver with kids on board hits another car head-on
News

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Springfield man was traveling with three kids in his car when he deliberately drove it head-on into another vehicle Sunday afternoon, Prince William County police said.

After hitting the other vehicle, police say Villegas Torres then got out of his car and began punching the driver in the face multiple times before the driver found a box cutter and slashed Torres in the face.

According to police, Torres was driving near the 15000 block of Lost Canyon Court in Woodbridge with three children, ages 2, 9 and 10, in the car. While driving, Torres saw a car with a woman involved in a dispute with Torres and a 61-year-old male driver, according to police.

When he saw the woman, police say Torres, 34, drove his car head-on into the car the woman was riding in, causing minor damage.

After driving into the victim's car, Torres allegedly got out of his car and began punching the driver in the head while he was sitting in the driver's seat. The driver was able to find a box cutter and cut Torres in the face, which stopped the attack.

Torres then went to a hospital to treat his injuries, where police then detained him.

None of the children in Torres' car were injured.

Torres has been charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of abduction, one count of assault and battery and one count of felony hit and run. He is being held without bond.
