16-year-old girl arrested in Brenden Wilson death

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police have arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the shooting death of a Woodbridge Senior High School student.

A 16-year-old female was arrested on November 14, the same day that the fourth suspect turned himself in, according to police. They both face conspiracy to commit a felony.

Brenden Wilson, 16, was shot and killed on November 10 in a wooded area behind Woodbridge Senior High School. Police say his death was drug related.

"All arrested suspects were determined to have been present during the shooting of Wilson and knowingly setup the incident as a robbery under the guise of a drug transaction," police said.

The alleged shooter, 20-year-old Kawain Tyrell Smalls of Woodbridge, along with 18-year-old Kymothy-Tyriq Desean Wilson, 17-year-old Deion Moses and two other juveniles, lured Wilson to the cut-through in the woods to rob him of marijuana. Smalls allegedly shot the teen at close range and fired several more rounds into his body.

Residents in the community say the area behind the school, known as "the cut," attracts mischief and drug related activity. But Vicki Wilson Moore, Brenden's mother, insists her son was not involved in drugs.

"Rumors are that this was drug related but this was not drug related. Just because the person who shot him is a drug dealer does not mean this was drug related. I don't know why these people killed my son. Prince William County is doing a wonderful job. I will not have my son's name go out like that," said Vickki Wilson Moore.

This is the second murder of a Woodbridge Senior High School student in less than two years. Eighteen-year-old Kenny Diaz was stabbed to death in September of last year.
