3 arrested, 1 sought for murder of Woodbridge student Brenden Wilson

WOODBRIDGE Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police have arrested a total of three people in connection with the shooting death of a Woodbridge Senior High School student. One suspect is still being sought.

Brenden Wilson was shot to death behind the school Monday in what police say might have been a drug deal gone bad. Brenden's mother is in shock but she wants to thank police for their quick work.

"Rumors are that this was drug related but this was not drug related. Just because the person who shot him is a drug dealer does not mean this was drug related. I don't know why these people killed my son. Prince William County is doing a wonderful job. I will not have my son's name go out like that," said Vickki Wilson Moore, Brenden's mother.

Police say they arrested the shooter, Kawain Tyrell Smalls, 20, of Woodbridge, on Tuesday and charged him with murder. They say Smalls, along with Kymothy-Tyriq Desean Wilson, 18, and two other juveniles, lured Brenden to the cut through in the woods.

According to the complaint, the group planned to rob Brenden Wilson of marijuana. Smalls allegedly shot the teen at close range and fired several more rounds into his body.

Residents and students spent the day cleaning up the 'Cut', a pathway that allegedly attracts mischief and drug related activity.

This is the second murder of a Woodbridge Senior High School student in less than two years. Eighteen-year-old Kenny Diaz was stabbed to death in September of last year.
