WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed Tuesday night while crossing a Prince William County highway, officials said.

Amelu G. Felix, 51, of Woodbridge was crossing the 13400 block Jefferson Davis Highway just before 7 p.m. when she was hit by a 2003 Toyota Highlander traveling southbound, according to police.

The driver, a 61-year-old Springfield woman, stayed on the scene and was not injured. Felix was taken to the hospital where she died, police said.

Investigators determined that Felix was not in a designated crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing when she was hit. Weather may have also made her difficult to see, police said.

The driver was not charged.
