Medical Examiner: Widower Of Culpeper Shooting Victim Died Of Natural Causes

CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. (WUSA) --  Gary Cook,  whose body was found in his apartment on Tuesday, died of natural causes, according to the Medical Examiner in Manassas.

Cook, whose wife Patricia had been fatally shot by a police officer in February, was discovered in his apartment by a maintenance crew on Tuesday morning.

Culpeper County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the residential apartment in the 1000 block of Friendship Way for a report of a deceased male at 10:29 on Tuesday.  Cook, 62, was found when a  maintenance crew entered the apartment to conduct routine maintenance service for the Friendship Heights Apartment complex.

Cook's wife Patricia Ann was fatally shot by a Culpeper police officer on Feb. 9 as she sat in her Jeep Wrangler in a school parking lot. Patricia Cook was shot seven times by Daniel Harmon-Wright, who pleaded not guilty in her shooting death,

Gary Cook had filed a $5.35 million wrongful death lawsuit in May against Harmon-Wright.
