Do You Know How Much You Love Cheese?

We all love cheese, right?  I haven't met many who don't enjoy a melt in your mouth parm or a creamy mouthful of brie with a warm and crusty baguette.  This is for all of you.

Potsherds (broken pieces of pottery) found in archaeological digs in Northern Europe have revealed evidence of cheese making in that part of the world as early as 6000BC.  As a naturally preserved source of protein and fat, various cheeses have nourished much of Europe, the Middle East, and other parts of the world for many thousands of years.  This is something that cannot be ignored when questioning whether or not cheese is "good for you" or if it fits into your dietary regimine.  Keep an open mind.

Eat Your Heart Out, America

Overeating is one of the worst forms of stress on your heart.  When you overeat, you tax every system of your body and increase the burden on your cardiovascular system.  But most important, when the stomach distends from excessive food volume it compresses the aorta and the arteries around the upper abdomen and pushes up against the diaphragm.  This restricts both lung and heart movement, potentially leading to serious heart disease.  Be good-hearted and eat moderately.  Take some breaths between bites.  Eat a little slower and enjoy the moment.

Hit the Trail

Hit the Trail

What would you expect a four-and-three-quarter-year-old to say at the end of a four-and-a-half-mile hike that she just finished using her own two feet? “What a wonderful day,” Sofi announced when we walked past the old Tavern (that I was wishing was still a tavern) at Great Falls National Park.
