Sabrina Campbell, owner of Occasionally Cake of Old Town Alexandria will be judging chocolate dishes at the annual Old Town Fairfax Chocolate Lover’s Festival, March 2 and March 3, 2013. Occasionally Cake had Best in Show and Best in Taste for the past three years at the Chocolate Lover’s Festival. “This is our fifth year to be a part of the Chocolate’s Lover’s Festival it’s one of our favorite ‘foodie’ events for sure,” said Sabrina Campbell, Occasionally Cake owner. “You can’t go wrong with chocolate it’s always fun to compete, but I particularly love to judge and sample so many of the creative creations,” said Campbell.

Occasionally Cake Hosts Valentine Cookie Workshop In Anticipation Of Valentine's Day

On Sat., Feb. 9, Occasionally Cake of Old Town Alexandria is featuring a hands-on Valentine Day Cookie Decorating workshop for all ages at 207 King Street in Old Town Alexandria offered at three sessions, 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.  Participants will receive four cookies at the one-hour workshop, a decorating demonstration and a take-home heart cookie box for the decorated cookies. The Presidential inauguration is just around the corner. Millions of people will be scrambling to see the President, the historical sites, and the food. Food plays a big role in any high-profile event, including the Presidential inauguration. As a result, many local restaurants will be making their Presidential picks for a feast fitting of the highest office in the land.

“Picking the Presidential meal is a fun and challenging task that we look forward to,” explains Ryan Fichter, Executive Chef of Thunder Burger. “In our pick, we wanted to incorporate a little of the President’s Hawaiian roots. We think this is a meal that the First Family would enjoy, as well as those looking for an authentic inauguration meal.”

Washington, D.C.- Jeannie "Kitty of the City” Jones, media personality of WPGC 95.5/Fox 5 News and Ready Set Impact, a multi-media company, hosted  “Grant My Wish” holiday event with her Grant My Wish Foundation December 21st  through the 23rd.  

This weekend long event began on Friday and featured a 24 hour drive at the 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue Starbucks  along with WPGC their radio partner. Rapper T.I. made a special appearance along with US Marines to assist with the toy collection.

METRO FINE ARTS FROSTY FOLLIES CHOSEN TO DANCE AT NAT'L CHRISTMAS TREE PROGRAM, SUN., DEC. 23

Metropolitan Fine Arts Center (MFAC) Frosty Follies jazz ensemble was selected to perform at the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. on Sun., Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. This is their eighth year performing at the National Christmas Tree, with more than 40 dancers from MFAC showcasing their live tap dance. “We are honored to be a part of the National Christmas Tree festivities,” said Melissa Dobbs, founder and executive director of Metropolitan Fine Arts Center of Alexandria and Fairfax Station, Va. “Our Frosty Follies performances were designed to offer free, holiday entertainment to our local communities,” said Dobbs.
