Animal Shelter Hosts an Open House on September 25th

From Prince William County:

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VIRGINIA . . . Gather up the family and join the staff of the  Prince William County Police Animal Control Bureau for a free open house on Sunday, September 25, 2011, from noon to 4 p.m. The festivities – which will be held rain or shine – will take place at the Animal Shelter, 14807 Bristow Road in the Manassas area.

Those participating include the Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit horses and members, as well as members of the Department’s K-9 Unit who will be on hand with their gear and available to answer questions about the unit.

A canine agility demo will be held at 1 p.m. A canine rally demo will be held at 2 p.m. An informal demo on feral cats and information on canine “good citizen” training will also be available. And, of course, adoptions will be possible on this day! A rabies and microchip clinic will allow your companion animal to get a $10 rabies vaccination and or a $20 microchip implant and registration.

There will be free food, door prizes and children’s activities – including a moon bounce and face painting! Other activities include tours of the Animal Shelter and the Children’s Farm. Booths will also be on site from area rescue groups, animal-related businesses and veterinarians. This is the fifth Open House that has been hosted by the Shelter since 2004.
