MONZA MENU ITEM HONORS LOCAL WAR VETERAN; DONATES $1000 to USMC WOUNDED WARRIOR REGIMENT

 

Monza and Carmello’s of Old Town Manassas, Va. became almost a second home to retired Col. Jack Lilley II, a long-time Catharpin resident, retired United States Marine Corp (USMC) and a war veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. After being a regular customer at Carmellos since 1978, the ‘Jack Special’ was born on Monza’s menu, with $1 of every order going to Lilley’s favorite charities:  the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment and The Freedom Museum. Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Lorton, Va. is hosting an open house at their new 10,375 square-foot Kingstowne studio at 5775 Barclay Drive in Alexandria, Va. on Sat., Sept. 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., including a ribbon cutting ceremony, tap jam, hip-hop showcase,  karaoke studio and light refreshments. METROPOLITAN FINE ARTS CENTER STUDIO OPENS in LORTON, VA

Metropolitan Fine Arts Center (MFAC) of Alexandria, Va. has officially moved into the Workhouse Arts Center, located in Lorton, Va. The new studio at the Workhouse Arts Center, building W-4, is 7,000 square feet, much larger than their former location in Fairfax Station, Va., allowing for more classes and performance space. MANASSAS WATER DEPARTMENT EARNS 2012 EXCELLENCE in WATER TREATMENT PLANT PERFORMANCE AWARD

 

The City of Manassas Public Works and Utilities department received the 2012 Excellence in Water Treatment Plant Performance award by the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water. “The City of Manassas is dedicated to maintain quality water for our citizens, we’re honored to be recognized for our water treatment performance,” said Mike Moon, director of City of Manassas public works and utilities department.

Three levels of effectiveness and performance are awarded, including gold, silver and bronze. Manassas earned the silver designation for excellence.
