Smart Markets, the DC areas most progressive and passionate farmer’s market relocates to Bristow Commons, beginning January 8, 2012. The local foodie community is abuzz surrounding the impending arrival of the best locally sourced food products available in Northern Virginia.

In a move described as “enthusiastic‘” by Jean Jaansen, Smart Markets founder and manager; Smart Markets intends to demonstrate its commitment to the west end of Prince William County with the move deep into the heart of the Linton Hall corridor; into a convenient location for the surrounding communities of Bristow, Gainesville, Haymarket and Manassas. Additionally, the move embodies the markets signature pledge to provide a viable alternative to big box food shopping by delivering natural, locally sourced products straight to the consumer.

The Smart Markets model offers a hyper-local, sustainable way of life for residents and the local economy.

“Bristow Commons brings us closer to the neighborhoods we want to serve,” in keeping with the clear cut mission of Smart Markets, Janssen continued. Both entities are thoroughly committed to community building and education, especially pertaining to “buying locally and eating seasonally,” according to Janssen.

“This is truly exciting news for our community,” said Sameer Patel, managing partner of Bristow Montessori School and a member of the development team behind Bristow Commons.

“Over the past few years, we have worked closely with the residents of Bristow to determine the types of amenities they would like to see at Bristow Commons. The most often repeated request has been for farm fresh & organic groceries, along with high quality food products.  We have heard the desire and have answered the bell with Smart Markets, Virginia’s most reputable farmer's market,” Patel continued.

“Creating a stable, self-contained economy in Western PWC” is extremely important to enhancing the appeal of a community for residents, developers and business owners according to Patel. “Featuring Smart Markets at Bristow Commons brings us one step towards creating a true neighborhood gathering destination.”

Bristow Commons aims to be a neighborhood gathering destination that incorporates elements of convenience and open space to create a cohesive bond with the surrounding neighborhoods.

Smart Markets is a year round farmers market that will bring more than 20 high quality vendors to Bristow Commons. The market will be open on Sundays (10:30 am to 1:30 pm) in the Bristow Montessori parking lot, located at 9050 Devlin Road beginning January 8, 2012.
