METROPOLITAN SCHOOL OF THE ARTS TO PERFORM  FREE FROSTY FOLLIES in DC-AREA

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Lorton, Va. will be performing their free, Frosty Follies shows from Fri., Nov. 29 through Sun., Dec. 22 throughout the Washington, D.C. area. The family-fun, holiday performance is complete with a live jazz performance from Metropolitan School of the Arts dancers, interactive song and visits from Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Suzy Snowflake and her International Dolls. Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Alexandria and Lorton, Va. will present their annual Nutcracker performances on Sat., Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on Sun., Nov. 24 at 12 p.m. and
5 p.m.at the Northern Virginia Community College, Ernst Cultural Center at the Annandale Campus in Annandale, Va. Ticket prices range from $18 to $27 and can be purchased online at www.metropolitanarts.org.

Now through Dec. 31, 2013, Occasionally Cake of Old Town Alexandria, Va. is hosting cupcake decorating classes on Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays, as scheduled and Sundays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.. Each class is two hours and instructors teach four different cupcake designs for take-home cupcakes, as each month features seasonal design options. Class is $60 per person. Rocktoberfest, a family-fun, musical festival, features a headlining performance from Robbie Schaefer, singer of Eddie from Ohio, singer Kira Willey, a children’s music artist, and Kofi Dennis, master teaching artist, as well as performances from other local artists at the Metropolitan School of the Arts in Lorton, Va. on Sun., Oct. 27 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Workhouse Arts Center at 9601 Ox Road. Cost is $10 per person, which benefits the non-profits, Metropolitan School of the Arts and One Voice, an organization that provides for needy children in East Africa, India and the United States. Free Festival at NOVA-Manassas

The community is invited to the inaugural NOVA Community Fall Festival and Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. The event is free and open to the public.

This family friendly festival will feature entertainment and activities for all ages, including a car show, live music and entertainment, arts and crafts, children’s activities, food vendors, giveaways, community information booths, and more.

NYC’s BROADWAY DANCER CENTER’s ELITE COMES TO METROPOLITAN SCHOOL OF THE ARTS

 

Broadway Dance Center of New York City is the epicenter of elite dance training; six of their veteran dance staff are visiting Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) Alexandria studio at 5775 Barclay Drive to teach master dance classes in jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, rhythm tap, ballet, and Broadway tap on Sat., Sept. 21, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sun., Sept. 22 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. For registration and class fees, go to www.metrpolitanarts.org.

Instead of parents traveling to New York City for the specialized and reputable dance training, MSA is giving intermediate and advanced dance students the opportunity to learn from notable dance instructors who are currently training professional dancers, and exposing those students to different styles/teachers in a more intimate setting, without the travel hassle and extra costs.

Whether you’re into tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop or theatre, Metropolitan School of the Arts studios’ fall curriculum provides a variety of classes for all ages, with classes beginning on Mon.., Sept. 9. Renowned for its holistic teaching approach, positive reinforcement style and world-class instructors, the school offers beginner and advanced instruction at their Alexandria and Lorton, Va. locations. Classes include: ballet, Pointe, hip-hop, jazz, break dancing, tumbling, Irish dance, hula, contemporary, combination classes of tap/ballet or jazz/tap, musical theater, acting, as well as piano, violin, percussion, guitar and voice lessons.
