Bristow Montessori School to Host Fall 4 OneVoice - PWC's premier fall festival - with a twist

As of last Friday morning, fall has officially arrived.

And with it, a full service buffet of Fall Festivals arrives in PWC.

Saying that the festival season offers something for everyone is an understatement. And for those of you who like a little philanthropy with your funnel cake – here’s a great event to plan for.

Bristow Montessori School (BMS) of Bristow will present “Fall 4 OneVoice”, a musical fall fest to benefit OneVoice.

Battle Royale Marching Band Competition

On Saturday, October 1, 2011, Battlefield High School in Haymarket, VA, will host its inaugural marching band competition, the Battle Royale. At least 19 area marching bands will be competing to become this event's first Grand Champion! And about 3,000 people are expected to attend. The competition begins at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 each (children 5 and under are free).

The Marching Bobcats will conclude the day's activities with a typically phenomenal exhibition performance. This event is expected to become northern Virginia's premier marching band competition. You don't want to miss this exciting day! Tell your friends!

Learn to Dance at the New Dance Program, Watch a Chainsaw Artist and Ride Twisted Twister…

 It’s that time again for the beautiful log carvings of the popular Chainsaw Chix, more than 100 crafters and an all new interactive dance session with dance groups like the Israeli Dance Program and the Happy Feet Cloggers at the 29th Annual Manassas Fall Jubilee to be held, Sat., Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Old Town Manassas, Va. With FREE admission and FREE parking, the event will feature hundreds of crafters, including exhibitors with handmade jewelry and products, woodcrafts, face painting, a pumpkin patch, live entertainment and rides. New this year, the Fall Jubilee is hosting an interactive dance area with dance groups like, The Happy Feet Cloggers, The Suburban Gypsies and the Israeli Dance Program. Attendees can watch performances and learn the dance steps as well.

The Art League at the Alexandria Festival for the Arts with the Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser

The Art League is kicking off the festivities for the FREE Alexandria Festival for the Arts THIS SATURDAY, September 10 beginning at 10:00 am at Market Square (corner of King and North Fairfax Streets), and all are invited to come and join the festivities.

We will host a variety of free creative programs from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at Market Square in Old Town Alexandria (corner of King & North Fairfax Streets) on both Saturday and Sunday. Fun, hands-on, art activities for all ages will be offered throughout the day along with demonstrations by nationally recognized artists. The weekend will also feature our popular Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser, back for TWO days this year and with 1,000 bowls!!

Paintings by Betsy Goin at NOVA-Manassas

Oil and acrylic paintings by Betsy Goin of Warrenton are currently on display at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Goin has studied art for many years at NOVA’s Manassas Campus with Fine Arts Professor Randy Michener.

Goin’s paintings will be on display in Colgan Hall until Sept. 30. The exhibition is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The Manassas Campus is at 6901 Sudley Road.
