Police Conduct Drug Searches in Two Schools
News, Schools

From Prince William County Police Department:

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VIRGINIA . . . The Prince William County Police Department conducted searches of two schools today to ensure student safety. These random searches are part of an ongoing effort by the Department, and the Prince William County Schools Office of Risk Management, to ensure that schools remain safe, drug-free environments for students and employees.

Officers and drug-detection dogs searched Woodbridge High School, 3001 Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge, and Lake Ridge Middle School, 12350 Mohican Drive in Woodbridge. No drugs were located at either school.

Police Chief Charlie T. Deane has said that it “is important to send a strong message that drugs in the school will not be tolerated. We hope that these searches will deter people from bringing drugs to school.”

School Resource Officers – County police assigned to middle- and high schools – coordinated the effort.
