Party Snaps Injure Student | News
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WUSA) - An elementary school student was injured Thursday when another student brought and distributed 'party snaps' to school , according to the Prince William County Dept. of Fire and Rescue.
A rescue unit was called to alocal elementary school for a report of a student injury, caused by one of the party snaps. The student sustained minor injuries to the left hand.
The school principal collected most of the party snaps and is preparing a letter for distribution to the parents.
Party Snaps, also called Snap-n-Pops, are super noisemakers that flash and pop when thrown to the ground. They are considered small flammable firecrackers and carry a warning label. Party snaps can be found at a variety of local retailers that sell party supplies.
The Fire Marshal's Office reminds residents that injuries may occur when using Party Snaps. and recommends adult supervision for children under the age of 10.
