Your company’s name is Kadoo. How did you come up with it? Is there a meaning or a story behind it?

We actually acquired Kadoo with its name in place. But, we really loved the name. And, apparently, it means “community” in Chinese, which we really like.

Tips for Going Gluten Free

Many products on the store shelves today carry the words “gluten free” on them. But just what does that mean, and why is it there? The label means plenty!  But in a nutshell, it means avoiding wheat, spelt, barley and rye, and a variety of other grain-based ingredients. Gluten-free foods are being sought out by many people, including the over 3 million people who have celiac disease, as well as millions more who have a gluten intolerance or sensitivity. The good news it that while it may seem like going gluten free is a daunting task, it is actually isn’t all that difficult!

Family: Woman Turned Away At Hospitals Before Death

LORTON, Va. (WUSA) -- A young Fairfax County woman is dead after her family says she was turned away from three different hospitals.

"I am so mad. They could've been the hospital to save her," said Elaine Parker, Rakea's mother.   She and her daughter's siblings and friends say hospital staffs did not believe she was severely ill until she collapsed into cardiac arrest.  She died of a pulmonary embolism, according to Elaine Parker.

Her mother, Elaine Parker, says, "Rakea was treated worse than a dog."

"My poor sister tried everything. She kept saying, 'my chest hurt, I need help,' and nobody would help her," said Rakia Parker, her twin sister.

Rakea's sister-in-law Diana Lutchery says she took her to Potomac Hospital on March 7 because she was complaining of chest pains.   Hours later, she went back to check on her.

5 Things You May Not Know About Acupuncture

Each year, millions of people in America use acupuncture, a traditional Chinese approach to improving health. While acupuncture has been used in China for over 2,000 years, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), it has become increasingly popular in America over the past few decades. Still, many people are not familiar with what it is and what it can be used for.

“Acupuncture is an effective way to treat many different ailments that people experience,” explains Dr. Gary Kaplan, founder of The Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicine (www.kaplanclinic.com), located in McLean, VA.  “While some people may be skeptical at first, they end up as fans, after they try acupuncture and see how it helps improve their health and well being.”
