Car Crashes Into 'AutoZone'

DALE CITY, Va. (WUSA) -- A car crashed into the 'AutoZone' store in Dale City, Va., Friday morning, police said.

The store is on 4415, Cheshire Station Plaza.

According to workers in the store, the car ran through the entrance and hit an employee in the leg.

Prince William County police say the worker may have suffered a broken leg from the crash.

The car backed out of the store, leaving a hole in the side of the building.

No word on what charges will be filed against the driver.

Man Gets 3 Life Sentences In Triangle Murders

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- It was an incredibly emotional day inside a Prince William County courtroom. Friday, a former park ranger faced sentencing for wiping out his entire family.

Carrillo Dean was described as evil and a complete failure in Courtroom 6 of the Prince William County Courthouse Friday.

"If he's not crazy, the only other thing I can think of is that he's evil," said a family member of the victims.

He was sentenced to three life sentences for killing his wife Beth, his 14-year-old stepdaughter Brittany Kirk and his 13-year-old stepson Connor Kirk.

"He failed at being stepfather to Brittany and Connor,"  said a family member.

February 12, 2009 Dean says he decided that he just couldn't take his nagging anymore. So during an argument with her that night he took a handgun from his dresser and shot her to death. Then he gunned down his two stepchildren.

Homeless Camp Evacuees In More Danger, Say Some

DALE CITY, Va. (WUSA) -- The state delegate who called for the removal of a 15-year homeless encampment is explaining his actions.   Delegate Scott Lingamfelter (R), 31st District,  says he was concerned about  the safety of the people walking across the ramps, along with drivers who might hit them.   He also says a recent brush fire that costs millions of dollars to fight was set by a homeless person at the camp.

But some say the people who were moved are now in more danger because they are further away from the bus depot and the shelter, which means they have to walk across more highways to get to those locations.

Friday's Heroes: Project Mend-A-House

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- Mend-A-House Charity is a volunteer project program that modifies homes for residents of Prince William County and Manassas for free. Mend-A-House does just what its name implies. The volunteers are not professional electricians, plumbers or carpenters but they're talented with the tools needed to reconstruct a house.

This program was created to help disabled residents no matter race, gender, or age. Eighty-one year old Augustus Williams has been residing in Virginia for 23 years. Within recent years the getting up and down the stairs in front of his home has become a major problem to his legs. Thanks to Project Mend-A-House, he can move through his house easily and safely.

Project Mend-A-House offers a wide range of home maintenance and repair services. The non-profit organization serves an average of 143 clients annually and donates 6,600 hours each year to the community.
