Gainesville Man Charged After I-66 Road Rage Incident

GAINESVILLE, Va. (WUSA) -- A Gainesville man faces multiple charges stemming from a road rage incident Friday morning on Interstate 66 in Prince William County.

Police say 36-year-old Michael C. Edwards of Gainesville was taken into custody after sideswipping a Honda, then striking the driver's side window with his motorcycle helmet until it shattered.

Virginia State Police Trooper D.M. Rogers responded to the scene in the eastbound lanes of I-66 near Exit 48 around 8 a.m. Friday. Edwards had been driving behind a 2005 Honda when the Honda suddenly braked. Police say he decided to go around the Honda but as it passed between the Honda and the vehicle next to it, the motorcycle sideswiped the passenger-side of the Honda and struck the side-view mirror.

McGinty's Mailbag: Weinergate, Troops And Delta

The still swirling controversy named Weinergate popped up on the Mailbag again. Thursday night, we asked if cheating over the web is still cheating, and Jon from Lorton, Virginia says you better believe it:

"....If you can't control your urges the media doesn't matter. He sent an invitation to other women to play, plain & simple. While every man has a little larceny in his heart when it comes to the fairer sex, most of us manage to keep on the straight and narrow,  for our familys sake, and our own sanity!"

But Susan from Alexandria points out, it takes two to tango:

"...let's recognize also that these were willing women, consenting adults, who continued a months-long correspondence with him. This was not Mark Foley making advances to teenage boys. These women pursued the relationship with flirtatious messages and provocative photos of their own. ....He's not the only one guilty of skeevy behavior...."

Neighbors Furious Alleged Cat Killer Released

DALE CITY, Va (WUSA) -- He's got a long rap sheet, including sex offenses, and now neighbors are furious that a judge let Robert McGuire out of jail after he allegedly cut the head off his mother's cat.

McGuire has a long history of trouble with the law: abduction, failing to register as a sex offender, assault, impersonating a police officer -- and now this horrible case of alleged animal cruelty.

The family has moved out of the house and it's now up for sale.
But investigators say it's at 4515 Dale Blvd that Robert McGuire allegedly got in an argument with his mother, grabbed the family cat, and beheaded it.

"Did he hold it down, the cat squirming all around, while he cut its head off? It doesn't make any sense," says neighbor Dave Walter, who says he's had nightmares since he found out. The cat used to play with his cat. "It's name was Mr Winkles."
