With temperatures in the  area expecting to soar in the high 90’s and 100's once again this week, Washington Sports Clubs is encouraging Washingtonians to take their workouts indoors to escape the heat. Clubs citywide will open their doors to the public for free workouts every time the thermometer hits 90 degrees through August. 

Beginning this month you can work out for free in any WSC facility on days where the temperature tops 90 degrees.

Prince William County Suing Department Of Homeland Security

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Prince William County is filing a second lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security seeking access to criminal immigration data.

The lawsuit filed was Thursday in Alexandria. An earlier lawsuit seeking details on the case of an illegal immigrant charged with killing a nun in a drunken driving crash remains unresolved.

Man Arrested In Narcotics Bust

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA) -- Prince William County Police arrested 34-year-old Demetrius Joyner of Woodbridge, Va. with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm.

Police say they found Joyner during a narcotics investigation on August 3rd. At that time, police seized 4 handguns, cocaine, marijuana and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency from the suspect. 

Joyner has been charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic [cocaine], possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm with narcotics

His court date is set for September 19th.

Free Chick-fil-A Sandwich with School Supply Donations

From Prince William County Public Schools:

Through the month of August, participating Chick-fil-A restaurants in Prince William County will give a free chicken sandwich to each guest who donates $5 or more of school supplies for students-in-need. No receipt is necessary. Simply bring $5 worth of supplies to the restaurant and receive your sandwich. All supplies will go to students in Prince William county Public Schools (PWCS). Chick-fil-A is an official PWCS business partner and with a representative serving on the board of SPARK, the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools.

Good News Bike Run, August 20, 2011

This event will be held on Saturday, August 20th, starting at Centreville Baptist Church, 15100 Lee Highway, Centreville, VA 20120. Will end at Northern Virginia Community College, Mary Louise Jackson Amphitheater, 6901 Sudley Road, Manasas. There will be bands playing at the end of this ride and the cost is $25 per Attendee. This is tax deductible and all proceeds go to support the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry.

Good News Jail and Prison Ministry of Fairfax and Prince William Counties will hold its first Good News Run: a Motorcycle Ride followed by a Christian Rock & Roll Music Festival. This event is a charity fund raiser, aimed at raising awareness of the pastoral care being provided to inmates of the Fairfax and Prince William County Jails by the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry chaplains.
